One of the main reasons why Manfred has such great ears, is that before he started ECM he had been a double bassist in the world famous Berlin Philharmonic.
Thanks so much for sharing these. My good buddy and fellow ECM lover Gary pointed me this way. Greatly appreciating hearing directly from the artists like this. -Carm
One of the great cultural enterprises of my lifetime. Bought my first ECM release in 1970. Mal Waldron ‘Free At Last’. Most recent is Enrico Rava & Fred Hersch ‘The Song Is You’ with several pre-ordered and hopefully many more to come. It’s been a remarkable experience to say the least.
Did you see my short documentary about the engineer Martin Wieland? It's episode "1969", i.e. the first one of 50 short documentaries I made about 50 ECM years / 50 ECM albums: vimeo.com/396742371

A great out-take and wonderful to hear for all fans, like myself, of ECM and Manfred's work.
